Seriously, people need to take a step back from Laci AND BREATHE.

But then you gotta move on.

Social Justice Sally used to confuse the hell out of me when I first joined tumblr. I didn’t think that “intellectual” individuals could be so utterly misguided. Now I get the shit out of it. 

I don’t think using the same slur in her ‘apology’- without censoring it, either -counts as an apology.

She did put quotation marks around it and she did apologize sincerely. Before this debacle I had never ever seen anyone argue that a slur should be censored. The commentor said tranny without censoring it and I see no-one in arms about that. Even so, at the end of the day, Laci was raising awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ issues. I would rather she did not receive death threats from individuals who are meant to be campaigning for supposedly similar causes. There was constructive criticism and after openly admitting and apologizing for her mistake she is still somehow condemned and hated? That seems insane. We’ve got enough ACTUAL enemies without fighting amongst ourselves. Don’t let these “social justice” blogs corrupt you. 

The point isn’t the quotation marks, she shouldn’t have said it/written it the first place. (The commentor is also actually part of the trans* community, so that is different.)

That just seems so harsh. I mean, I have and occasionally still make mistakes concerning trans* issues and I would hope that everyone knows that I don’t do it out of hate or even indifference but from a lack of education and forgives me. I can’t explain it but just seeing/reading this debacle is incredibly saddening. It is so unforgiving that it almost makes me lose my faith in people. So I am just going to have to step back from LGBTQ & social activists’ tumblrs for a while.
